We believe a team approach is best when it comes to serving you.

Each of us is dedicated to meeting your needs in a manner that is meaningful and relevant to you. We realize that each relationship is unique. Therefore, as a team, we strive to understand you and your priorities.

Life happens over time. We cannot control many things in our financial future, but we can commit to having a team in place for the long haul. Founder & Lead Advisor

Rob’s commitment to helping everyday people manage their money is firmly grounded in a financial career spanning more than two decades. He is an advisor, educator, manager and small business owner with experience in investment management, financial planning and real estate transactions. While assisting a broad range of clients within Fortune 500 companies such as American Express and Charles Schwab, he realized solid, objective advice and hands-on relationship-based service were the keys to helping investors achieve their financial goals. So, in 2002, he joined Arcadia Investment Advisors, where he served as partner, chief compliance officer and investment manager. Ten years later, he formalized his ownership interest at Arcadia, now named Fort Vancouver Investment Management, LLC.

Beyond serving clients, Rob also actively seeks to enhance financial literacy in his community. As a volunteer for the Foundation for Personal Financial Education, he has been invited to speak by a number of local businesses, such as the Cascade Corporation, Micron Technology and Leatherman Tool Company. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business management from George Fox University and holds a master’s degree in financial services from the Institute of Business and Finance. Rob is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM.

On a personal note, Rob is married to Valerie and they have three children: Kayla, Grace and Joshua. Outside of work, he likes to volunteer with County-Wide Chaplaincy, a non-profit organization that provides a chaplain at the scene of any traumatic injury or death.

Holly Breeden

Director of Compliance

Holly and Rob have been working together since 2006. With her fondness for number-crunching, she was attracted to the investment management industry in 2006. She found that “the people factor” has been among the most satisfying parts of her role at FVIM, where she assists with portfolio reviews, trade placements, compliance obligations and additional client outreach services. In 2014, she completed the investment advisory exam.

Holly’s background includes seven years as an office manager at a Vancouver-based tax consulting firm, where she oversaw the company’s administrative staff, managed client accounts and developed specialized expertise in submitting property tax appeals. She also studied legal assisting at Utah Valley State College.

Outside of the office, family is important to Holly. She enjoys spending time with her two children and husband, Jerred. She is involved in her church and dabbles in various arts and crafts in her free time.

Sarah Young

Operations Manager

Sarah relocated to Vancouver in 2004 from California, promptly joined the team, and has been invaluable to us ever since. She assists with client account processing, performance reporting software, technology development and a variety of special client projects. Additionally, she serves as our liaison between us and our custodian, Charles Schwab & Co. by helping clients open accounts, tracking transfers of assets, processing distribution requests and ensuring client needs are met.

Sarah has been on the administrative side of small business throughout most of her professional career. She feels that one of the main benefits of working in a small business environment is utilizing a creative solution process that is at times difficult in a large corporation.

In her off hours, she spends time with her family. Together, they enjoy traveling and experiencing new places. She is also fond of arts and crafts projects, as well as updating their 1950s home.

Madeline Koo

Client Service Specialist

Madeline knew she’d found a great fit for her career aspirations when she joined FVIM in 2018. When she mentioned her guilty pleasures included “doing paperwork, working with numbers and organizing things,” we knew we’d found the right match for our growing firm. It was no time at all before we were wondering how we ever got by without her — from assisting with administrative details to helping us with account maintenance to pitching in on client care.

Madeline grew up in northern California, relocating to Washington in 2016. Before joining FVIM, she worked in the finance department for a pension administration company. She also served for a year as a volunteer educator in the Pohnpei, Micronesia school system. She has a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies and a master’s degree in teaching.

At home, Madeline, her husband and daughter enjoy spoiling their two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Ozzy and Olive. She also loves to travel and immerse herself in local cultures. So far, she’s visited 14 countries and counting.
